Greens candidate Zoe Cook announces candidacy for Campaspe Shire Council
Lockington resident Zoe Cook has launched her campaign to represent the newly unsubdivided Campaspe Shire in the upcoming local
election this October, citing climate action and cost of living key issues facing local government in the future.
Celebrating the beginning of her fourth year living in the shire at her launch, Zoe is deeply involved in both sporting and arts communities, playing cricket and umpiring netball across the region, and acting in local theatre productions with the Echuca Moama Theatre Company.
She is passionate about improving transport and accessibility across the shire for everyone, seeking to push for an expansion of bus services across the region with more reach and regularity, but also to make streets safer for active transport - walking, cycling and even scootering.
As a resident of Rochester during the 2022 flooding, Zoe has personally faced the
consequences of the climate crisis and feels the urgency to make our shire more resilient to climate impacts. We can do this by directly consulting and connecting with residents to put community-backed preventative measures in place.
Zoe will also advocate for investment in the quality services that care for our
communities’ health and wellbeing, while revitalising our high streets across the shire and supporting local tourism. So many people in our community are struggling with the cost of living and housing crises, and Council can play a key role in addressing these big issues by fully funding public services and supporting safe and secure public housing across the shire so everyone has a place to call home.
